kid 3: a convict's done something bad but a refugee hasn't.

kid 2: but they both come to australia in boats and they both get locked up right?

Yep , he's got it!
Interesting that the Australian Govt. while appearing to loosen up on refugees in detention is grooming Christmas Island for our future refugee detention arrangements where they are outside many of the priveledges of Australian law.
